Battery and generator in hybrid operation
A generator running around the clock at low load burns a lot of diesel per kilowatt-hour. With a battery, the generator runs for only a few hours at a good load and charges the battery, and the battery covers the rest of the day. In an example from the industry, the running time went from the whole day to around three hours, according to iLaks.
